Makini R. Brereton joins Philip Berry Associates LLC, as a Columbia University graduate where she received a Master of Science in Social Work. With a concentration in Social Enterprise Administration, she focused in the areas of organizational theory, human resource management, program evaluation, crisis management and program planning and development. As a senior analyst/program manager, Makini will design programs and create tools to increase organizational effectiveness.
Makini was formally an analyst at Colgate-Palmolive in the Global Workplace Initiative department. At Colgate, she worked on diversity initiatives including “Best Place to Work” survey benchmarking, employee network/affinity groups and affirmative action compliance.
Prior to entering Columbia, she worked for five years at Safe Horizon, as an advocate on behalf of victims of domestic violence, rape/sexual assault and other crimes. Shortly thereafter, Makini joined the law firm, Wilmer, Cutler, Pickering, Hale & Dorr (WilmerHale), as a paralegal in their Intellectual Property department. In addition, Makini worked at The Legal Aid Society in their Criminal Defense Division, as a forensic social worker.
Makini holds a B.S. degree in psychology from Mercy College and a paralegal diploma from New York University. She also currently serves as a program administrator for the Board of National Hispanic Corporate Achievers (NHCA).
